With the support from the local people of Satdobate (a village within Arupokhari) this school was established in 1981 AD (2038 BS). In the initial phase, this school was running only for grades 1 and 2, but as the student population increased, the need for upper classes was evident. The only option the students had was to transfer to the Durbar School, quite far from Balodaya. Though the school now has till the fifth grade, the management has been unable to maintain the quality of education as well as the physical upkeep of the buildings. Presently, this school has four full time teachers and a maintenance staff for over 90 students.
This school lies in Arupokhari – 1 (Gorkha, Nepal), about 190 kms from Kathmandu. The journey from Kathmandu to Arughat can take from 7 to 9 hours depending on the traffic and the condition of the road; from Arughat it is a 3-hour walk to Satdobate.
Back In 2011 and 2012 the renovation of Bal Udaya Primary School has been accomplished. The worn out wall and cracks has been fixed, the withered doors, windows and rusted iron frame have been replaced and painted.
