The Rotary Club of Wahroonga is one of the largest Rotary clubs in the north of Sydney, Australia in Rotary International District 9680. It currently has over 60 members from a wide range of occupations and backgrounds.
The Rotary Club of Wahroonga is proud to be a supporter of Sambhav Nepal’s multi-year schools improvement project in Nepal. The project has completely reconstructed and expanded the Bharibi Primary School, constructed a library at Dharapani Secondary School, extensively renovated Sitala Primary School and previously funded local teacher training.
In January 2011, a RAWCS volunteer teacher training team comprising two members of RC of Wahroonga, three other Rotarians and one non-Rotarian, travelled to Arupokhari following an initiative from the Rotary Club of Wahroonga to undertake a teacher training course.
The Club has also provided, during the current year, substantial funding to address needs identified during the January 2011 site visit, including:
– Additional books for the Dharapani Library
– For repairs to the toilets at Dharapani Lower Secondary
– For three months of English language and ESL training for the teachers
Planning is underway for a follow up RAWCS volunteer teacher training team in January 2012.
